Wayne Miller
Managing Director

Mr Miller is the founder of the group. Prior to this his other corporate experience was as co-founding executive director of Medepartner Ltd, where he was instrumental in raising seed and mezzanine capital, product development and implementation of an innovative “first to market” product. Medepartner Ltd achieved ASX listing through a reverse take over of Konekt Limited (ASX code: KKT).

Specifically he has 28 years’ experience in the insurance industry including executive positions for several major international insurance and insurance broking companies. Insurance company experience spanned from underwriting and claims practical experience culminating in senior national responsibilities for underwriting. Insurance broking and risk management experience included: development, design and implementation of risk management and insurance programs across a broad range of clients and industries; specialist corporate/mining insurance in Australia and internationally.

Now into ACIL’s 5th year Mr Miller has considerable experience in “start up” company development, acquisitions and management in the insurance industry sector.

The Hon. W.P. (Bill) Jeffries
Non-Executive Chairman

LLB (Victoria)

Mr Jeffries is a practising barrister in Wellington. He held the position of Chief Commissioner of the New Zealand Transport Accident Investigation Commission from 1997 to April 2010. He was also Chairman of New Zealand's Real Estate Agents Licensing Board from 2007 to 2010.

Mr Jeffries is a former Minister of Transport and former Minister of Civil Aviation. He also held the Justice portfolio in 1989/90.

As a result of his extensive transport experience, Mr Jeffries has a particular expertise in risk management and safety management systems for the marine, aviation and rail industries. He has served as Chairman of the International Transport Safety Association.

Since 1995 he has held the position of Consul-General in New Zealand for the Kingdom of Sweden.

Anne-Marie Syme
Director

Ms Syme has extensive corporate management and business development experience within the banking and finance sectors and currently works in Director and Executive capacities with several companies and organisations throughout Australia. These include Insurance, Liquor, Information Technology, Human Resources and business coaching industries.

Ms Syme is featured in two books - “Secrets of Inspiring Leaders Exposed” and “Leadership Revelations – An Australian Perspective”.

Recently, Ms Syme won an award for “Most Inspiring Woman of the Year – Business” (2009) and was presented this award by Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce – Governor General of Australia.

Mark Shelton
Director

B.Bus., ASCPA, registered Taxation Agent

Mr Shelton is a Associated Chartered Practicing Accountant and has extensive experience in executive, financial management and company secretarial roles, including as founding non-executive director & company secretary of Medepartner Ltd.

He is presently the Chief Executive Officer of the premier regional airline carrier Skywest Airlines of ASX and AIM board listed company Skywest Holdings. Prior to Skywest, Mr Shelton was Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Community Newspaper Group Ltd, a role he held since November 1990. Mr Shelton has been instrumental in Community Newspaper Group Ltd’s acquisitions of many community papers in Western Australia.

Mr Shelton brings strong finance skills to the board of directors.

Daniel (Dan) O'Leary
Director

MA (Oxon)

Son of a British diplomat and a New Zealand mother, Mr O'Leary began his education at Forest School, Canberra, where his father was serving in the British High Commission at the time. He later attended schools in South Africa, New Zealand and the UK before proceeding to Oxford where he gained his Masters Degree. After a two-year stint in Tokyo working for a Japanese pharmaceutical company he joined P&OCL but in 1989 decided to become a barrister. He was admitted to the New Zealand Bar and has practised as a Barrister in Wellington, in the civil jurisdiction, for some 14 years. He has appeared in the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

Mr O'Leary is married to Nina, the daughter of Hon Hugh Templeton, the New Zealand Minister responsible, with Doug Anthony the former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, for negotiating the Closer Economic Relations (CER) Treaty between Australia and New Zealand, as a result of which the Governor-General of Australia has recently made his father in law a member of the Australian Order.

Mr O'Leary looks forward to participating in the continued development of Insured Group.

Trevor Jacobs
Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary & Director

Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science (Hons BCompt), CPA, MAICD

A Certified Practising Accountant, Mr Jacobs has been with ACIL since its inception and is its chief financial officer and company secretary. He is responsible for due diligence investigations on acquisitions, finance, compliance and information technology. He commenced his career with chartered accounting firm Deloittes in South Africa where he rose to audit manager before embarking on a career in commerce. He has performed the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for medium to large companies for the past 14 years, including 3 years as a partner and director of a large consulting firm in the construction and engineering industry. He also has experience with quality control systems and human resources.
